He has won more than 30 awards including at the Berlin International Film Festival and European Film Awards. Baltasar Kormákur served as executive producer for the television series Trapped from 2015 to 2016 and producer for the TV series Borgarstjorinn in 2016. His son is actor Baltasar Breki Samper.
