In 1999 he started hosting The Buzz 15 and in 2001 Private Conversations. He started hosting Inside the Cinema in 2008, The Bottomline with Boy Abunda in 2009, and Aquino & Abunda Tonight in 2014. Abunda has also hosted the television shows Kontrobersyal, Morning Star, Homeboy, and Boy & Kris. He has won awards including two FAMAS Awards. Abunda is openly gay and supports gay rights and gay marriage. He has been a part time professor at Philippine Women’s University. Abunda had an abscess removed from his liver in August 2014.
