Zapata uses both oil and acrylics in his works, often incorporating them with mixed media, graffiti, as well as collage from found objects, spray paint, and re-worked photos. As for the subject matter, he loves to express himself in various themes. The motive of his past series for example, ranged from polo players to circus animals, and from Hollywood artists to flamenco dancers and bullfighters. According to Zapata, his inspiration comes from his personal experience and everyday life. Recently, he was named an “artist to watch,” by the prestigious Whitewall Magazine, and is currently represented by Hus Gallery in London.
