He grew up in poverty with his family of eight living in one room. Kim Beom-su graduated from Seoul National University and then worked at Samsung. In 1998 he founded the online gaming company Hangame and merged with Naver in 2000 to form NHN. Kim Beom-su lives in Seoul, South Korea and is married with two children.
