Early Life

Oliver Martyn John Phelps was born on February 25, 1986, in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, thirteen minutes before his brother James. Raised in a supportive and close-knit family, he attended local schools and had no formal acting experience prior to being cast in the “Harry Potter” films.

Harry Potter

Oliver and James were cast as George and Fred Weasley after a lengthy open audition process. Oliver played George throughout the entire franchise, beginning with “Philosopher’s Stone” in 2001 and concluding with “Deathly Hallows – Part 2” in 2011. Though supporting characters in the early films, the twins became increasingly prominent, known for their comic timing, rebellious energy, and emotional arc, particularly in the final two installments. The twins’ on-screen bond and humor made them fan favorites, and their roles extended beyond Hogwarts hijinks to moments of real dramatic weight in the series’ later years.

Career After Harry Potter

Following the end of the “Harry Potter” franchise, Oliver continued to work in film and television, often in tandem with his brother. His post-Potter credits include roles in indie films like “Danny and the Human Zoo,” “Own Worst Enemy,” and “Last Night in Soho.” In addition to acting, Oliver has co-hosted the podcast Normal Not Normal, where he and James explore topics like identity, growing up in the spotlight, and mental health. The show has earned praise for its candid and often humorous discussions. Oliver is also a frequent participant in fan expos, theme park events, and charity functions related to the Wizarding World and beyond.

Personal Life

Oliver is married and lives in England. He is an avid traveler and golfer, and has expressed interest in environmental causes and youth education programs. He continues to embrace his connection to “Harry Potter” while exploring new ventures in and out of the entertainment industry.
