Chara won the Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011. He played in the NHL All-Star Game in 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. In 2004, 2009, and 2014 Chara was named to the NHL First All-Star Team. He won the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2009 and won the Hardest Shot competition in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. He also won the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2011 and The Hockey News’ John Ferguson Award for toughest player in 2013. In international competition Chara has represented Slovakia and won Silver medals in 2000 and 2012. He is the first NHL player to captain an NHL team to the Stanley Cup that was born inside the Iron Curtain.
